Somewhere in Ontario

Looking down a cliff at a waterfall

I shot this using my D70 doing the cha cha method. That's where you put weight on one leg, take a picture, then shift your weight to the other leg and take a picture. It's not that great for moving objects (ie. the falls) but I didn't have a stereo camera at the time and just had to make do.

Queen of Stereo Photography

Wendy Whaley and Derek Lang at Bill Wrigley's party.

I met Wendy a while ago. Other than the fact that she's way cute (and unfortunately seeing someone - d'oh), I remembered her because of her stereo photography interest and the fact that she owns a Realist 3D camera. There aren't that many women in Toronto that are that cool. Or perhaps I'm just not looking hard enough.

In this shot Wendy and I are posing for Darryl, who shot this image using the cha cha method. That's where you take two pictures seperately, one right after another (usually by shifting you body weight - like you're doing the cha cha). A shot for your left eye and a shot for your right eye. The pictures were taken with my D70 and flash. I was actually surprised that the SB-800 (nikon's speedlight) was able to recharge so quickly as Wendy and I had to remain still between pictures.

Note: the picture was photographed by Darryl Gold (in case you didn't get that)

The Gladstone Speakeasy

Emmanuel Lopez and David Brown at the Gladstone Speakeasy.

After a short introduction to 30s fashions, Emmanuel and I went over to the Gladstone Hotel to see this month's speakeasy art and schmooze with the artsie types that were there. The photo above was taken using my 1951 Realist with Ilford black and white film. There was an annoying scratch across the entire film leaving the dreadful horizontal lines cutting across their stomach area.

Reigning Sound

Jim at the front desk

It's been a while since I've posted anything to this site. I was in Hamilton visiting Craig and Leah. On the way to their house Craig and I dropped by Jim's store, Reigning Sound. Jim who seems to be a huge Ramones fan, judging by all the Ramones stuff all over (including a guiter signed by Joey Ramone), was busy doing store stuff and "brainwashing" Craig into buying some horror movie on VHS.

Reigning Sound is located at...
272 King street east, unit #2
Hamilton, Ontario

FishTank

Harold the fish taken with my Nikon D70 using a stereoscopic lens in a cap. I just got this device and am still experimenting with it. I can only shoot in manual mode.

This is the life guard house located in the Beaches in Toronto's east end. It's in operation during the summer months.

Canadian National Tower

Here we can see the CN tower from my (previous) work window. There's a Sanyo blimp floating in the sky. You may have to enlarge the picture to see it.

Blueprint for Disaster

This is me on the set for Blueprint for Disaster season one, episode 5. The funicular disaster in Kapurn show. I'm getting set up in some orange overalls for my big scene. You will see my feet running out a door of a smokey control room.

Blueprint is a show about poorly designed objects, the objects failing or falling apart and how investigators figure out what happened.

This picture was taken with a duel Nikon 990 setup with the 9 second timer.

Welcome All Stereo Enthusiasts!

This blog is for people interested in 3D images. I will post images of mine in anaglyph format. It's the format where you'll require those red/blue glasses.
